Senior Vice President, Services and Partnerships
Kevin Guitterrez serves as senior vice president of services and partnerships for the National Institute for Excellence in Teaching. In this position, Guitterrez is responsible for the implementation, management and oversight of NIET services and partnerships, including trainings, support, materials, resources and Web-based technologies associated with the TAP System for Teacher and Student Advancement and the Educator Effectiveness Best Practices Center.
Before his role at NIET, Guitterrez spent the last decade in his hometown of New Orleans, Louisiana, where he worked to improve some of the most challenging schools in the country. He most recently led ReNEW Schools as president and COO, which prepares thousands of students for college and careers. Prior to ReNEW, Guitterrez was deputy superintendent of the Louisiana Recovery School District, where he helped develop innovative initiatives to transform the campuses into successful places for students to learn.
Guitterrez established a relationship with NIET while serving as the TAP System liaison and chief academic officer for the Algiers Charter School Association, whose schools adopted the instructional model in 2008 as a cornerstone of strengthening teaching, learning and whole communities in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
Earlier in his career, Guitterrez worked for the Louisiana Department of Education's Distinguished Educator program and was an administrator and teacher in St. Charles Parish Schools. He served on the Louisiana Department of Education's Accountability Commission, the Louisiana Department of Education's Blue Ribbon Committee for Teacher Quality and the New Orleans United Way School to Career Advisory Committee.
Guitterrez holds a master's degree in educational leadership from the University of New Orleans.
