Louisiana Acceleration Series

Overview

The Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) has partnered with NIET to provide support to Louisiana schools in their efforts to accelerate student learning. Through this partnership, LDOE is providing free access to all Louisiana educators to a series of trainings designed to help target instruction and accelerate learning recovery.

While sessions build on each other, educators can choose to take them individually. The trainings are:

1. Analyzing and Using Data to Meet the Needs of Students (Aug. 30 – Oct. 5)
Participants will analyze data to determine trends in student needs, examine an accelerated learning approach, and create a coaching plan and continued opportunities for reflection, monitoring, and communicating progress. 
Target Audience: School and district leadership teams

2. Maximizing Collaborative Structures to Support Learning Recovery (Oct. 11 – Nov. 11)

Participants will unpack the role of the leadership team to support teachers and increase the capacity of administrators and teacher leaders to accelerate learning. 
Target Audience: School and district leadership teams

3. Planning for Accelerated Learning Options and Individualized Learning (Nov. 10 – Dec. 16)
Participants will examine models for grouping students and plan for the incorporation of accelerated learning in core instruction, small group, and individual instruction.

4. Strengthening Content-Specific Strategies for Learning Recovery in Math (Jan. 31-Feb.15)
Participants will identify skills critical to student mastery of essential math standards, scaffold and segment accelerated learning, and incorporate techniques for increasing student engagement and ownership of learning. 
Target Audience: Math teachers and leaders

5. Strengthening Content-Specific Strategies for Learning Recovery in ELA (Feb. 16-March 22)
Participants will identify skills critical to student mastery of essential ELA standards, scaffold and segment accelerated learning, and incorporate techniques for increasing student engagement and ownership of learning. 
Target Audience: ELA teachers and leaders

Logistics

Sessions are open to teachers, teacher leaders, school leaders, and district leaders. Each training is a full day (8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.). Remaining sessions are virtual only. Educators do not need to have attended prior sessions in order to benefit from these trainings.

Certificates will be awarded to all participants who request them following the completion of each training.
