Fernando Valle currently serves as an associate professor of educational leadership at Texas Tech University. A former middle school teacher, middle and high school counselor, and principal of South Texas border schools, Valle prepares school leaders with competency-based work through university and public school partnerships. This job-embedded experience and research in schools center around improving student achievement, and coaching and growing instructionally strong school leaders. Valle currently leads i3 Innovation and Supporting Effective Educator Development federal grants with multistate partners. Through this research and development, Valle continues to grow instructionally and culturally competent school leaders who challenge status quo practice and dismantles deficit thinking.
