As superintendent of the Avondale Elementary School District in Arizona since 2012, Dr. Betsy Hargrove has led the district to outperform the state in student achievement three years in a row. This could not have been achieved without the NIET structures the district implemented in 2010, which shifted focus to engaging professional development and building teacher efficacy to impact student learning. NIET's framework was used as the foundation for the district's improvement approach to extend cluster, strengthen goal-setting and data analysis, as well as empower teacher leaders. Previously, Hargrove served as assistant superintendent at the district. She holds a bachelor's degree in elementary education from the University of Southern Maine, a master's degree in educational administration and supervision from Fordham University, and a doctorate in educational administration and supervision from Arizona State University.
