Laura Roussel

Director of School Services and National and Special Project Team Leader

Laura Roussel brings a multitude of educational leadership experiences having held a variety of positions at the state, district, and school level prior to beginning her work at NIET. As the director of school services as well as national and special project team leader for NIET, Laura works at large on special projects that leverage educator effectiveness and school improvement efforts with partnering districts across the nation.

In addition to serving as a classroom teacher, a district-level teacher coach, and as a master teacher in the district's highest-needs schools, Laura served as an at large executive master teacher for the Louisiana Department of Education supporting schools and educators across the state of Louisiana in establishing school-level structures and processes that would impact teacher quality and student achievement. Additionally, Laura has also worked at the district level in a variety of roles such as executive master teacher, school support partner, principal coach, and as a supervisor overseeing programs and practices for teacher development for all levels of teachers including in-service, novice, mentor, and master teachers. Having experienced each of these unique roles, in an effort to improve teaching and learning, has allowed Laura the opportunity to deeply understand how educational stakeholders that serve in these roles can directly or indirectly impact student achievement.

Prior to her current role, Laura served as a project director overseeing some of NIET's work with higher education partners. She received her bachelor's degree from Louisiana State University, her master's degree from Southeastern Louisiana University, and is currently enrolled in a doctoral program at Southeastern Louisiana University.
