Kim Melancon

Kim Melancon brings over 23 years of experience in education in Ascension and East Baton Rouge Parishes in Louisiana to her role as a senior specialist with NIET. She served as a master teacher and assistant principal at Donaldsonville High School in Ascension Parish, a trailblazing high school within the NIET/TAP network. She also worked as an Instructional Leadership Partner in Ascension Public Schools supporting other schools in the development of strong instructional practices.

During her tenure in Donaldsonville, Kim worked with the instructional team to ensure equitable learning and success for all students. The team was dedicated to the selection, training, and support of effective leaders and teachers, and her work with NIET builds on this experience.

Kim earned her bachelor’s degree in Mathematics Education from the University of Central Florida and her master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Southeastern Louisiana University.

Why are you passionate about working at NIET?

I am passionate about working for NIET because I have seen the success of the structures, systems, and support NIET provides at the school and district level.  NIET is committed to providing intentional, sustained, and high-quality investments in educators and leaders directly resulting in success for all students.  My role at NIET gives me the joy of supporting and coaching principals and teachers with the end goal of providing all students the opportunity for success.

What do you do in your free time?

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my children and grandchildren.  I also love boating and spending time outdoors.  My happy place is doing these things altogether as a family!

What is your superpower/hidden talent?

I am the mother of two sets of twins.
