Doug Clauschee is the associate superintendent of curriculum and instruction of the Chinle Unified School District (CUSD) in Arizona. Prior to his appointment as associate superintendent, Doug served as the principal of Chinle High School in CUSD for 14 years. In addition, he has been a teacher, athletic director, and assistant principal. He is a citizen of the Navajo Nation in Arizona.
Doug has been awarded by the state of Arizona for exemplary instructional programs and has had the opportunity to present for many professional educational groups, most recently on the success of CUSD's performance at the ESSA conference in Tucson, AZ. He was named administrator of the year in 2009 for his work with Chinle High School in achieving Adequate Yearly Progress his first three years as principal and performing status eight years in a row in Arizona.
One capstone to Doug's career is he is attaining his doctorate in educational leadership in December. He is committed to the development of early literacy and advocates fiercely to transform Native American communities so young people can take advantage of educational opportunities to become globally competitive as citizens. Empowering others through leadership is the foundation of his philosophy for change.
