Dr. James Gray has served in public education for 24 years as a classroom teacher, assistant principal, principal, the director of school leadership for the Vermilion Parish School Board and currently serves as superintendent for Jefferson Parish Schools.
James has spent 19 of his 24 years in administrative positions within two school districts. James has served on numerous state committees including state principal forums. He was selected as a statewide Compass evaluation trainer and was a co-developer of the Compass Leader Rubric designed to evaluate Louisiana's school administrators.
James frequently presents at local, regional, and national conferences focusing on effective leadership through cultures of learning and support systems for effective instructional practices. James earned his bachelor's degree from Grambling State University, master's from Nicholls State University, and an educational doctorate from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
