NIET Higher Education Partnerships: Preparing Teacher Candidates to Be Effective on Day One

New second-grade teacher Lorialle Haynes of Collier Elementary - a high-need school in Avondale, Arizona - describes how student teaching through the TAP System for Teacher and Student Advancement and rubric prepared her to be successful from the moment she stepped into the classroom. Haynes’ site coordinator and Arizona State University professor Ruhi Khan goes on to explain how she can embed the instructional rubric into specific coursework and how it can be reinforced to the teacher candidates through real in-the-classroom applications.
