Training as a Mentor Helped This Veteran Teacher Recharge

Through high-quality training offered by NIET in partnership with the Arkansas Department of Education, hundreds of teachers statewide are earning the Lead Professional Educator Designation as a mentor and teacher leader. This investment in building the skills and knowledge of mentor teachers is designed to help aspiring teachers to be more effective and remain in the profession.

Rebecca Elliott - a teacher from Riverview School District who participated in NIET’s Lead training - wrote positively about her experience, citing how it strengthened her leadership skills and enabled her to reflect on how she can continue to grow her own instructional skills as she supports new teachers.

Looking back, I didn't totally realize what I was signing up for when I volunteered. But I'm glad I did. The training reminded me that being a teacher is not just about checking boxes or getting through the day - it's about constantly growing, supporting others and keeping our focus on what matters most: helping kids.
