Mrs. Bethany Gibson, proud Principal of Douglas MacArthur Elementary, is dedicated to serving a diverse community of learners in grades 1-5, each with unique language and learning needs. She loves working with kids and collaborating with educators to bring out their best learning potential through fostering a safe, student-centered learning environment. 

Mrs. Gibson possesses a wide range of rich educational experiences. With nineteen years of experience in middle school and elementary school settings, she has served in multiple capacities, including as assistant principal at Perry Meridian Sixth Grade Academy, Dean of Students at Southport Middle School, and English Teacher at Southport Middle School before her current role as Principal at Douglas MacArthur Elementary School in Indianapolis, IN. She has been awarded Teacher of the Year for the 2009-2010 school year and the 2019 African-American Excellence in Education Award through the Indianapolis Chapter of the Indiana Black Expo. 

Mrs. Gibson earned a Bachelors of Science in English Education from Ball State University and a Masters of Arts in Educational Leadership from the University of Indianapolis. Mrs. Gibson is married and the proud mother of three children.
