Dr. Larry Polk Jr.
Superintendent
Colorado Independent School District
Texas
Larry Polk, Jr., Ed.D., serves as Superintendent of Colorado Independent School District in rural West Texas, where he has built his leadership around a simple conviction: geography should never limit opportunity.
With nearly three decades in public education, Dr. Polk brings experience from multiple levels of the profession, including counseling, campus administration, school improvement, and district administration. That broad perspective has shaped an approach centered on strong educators, intentional systems, high expectations, and meaningful pathways for students.
At Colorado ISD, Dr. Polk has expanded career and technical education programs, including CNA, welding, robotics, and other high-demand fields. The district has strengthened instructional alignment and student support systems, increased access to technology, and developed strategic partnerships with higher education and industry that connect students directly to college and career pathways. These efforts have contributed to measurable academic growth, stronger college, career, and military readiness outcomes, and a culture in which students are prepared to compete on any stage.
During his tenure, Colorado ISD has also made strategic investments in programs, facilities, and infrastructure while strengthening its financial position and securing significant competitive funding to advance services for students and staff.
Dr. Polk was named the Region 14 Outstanding Superintendent of the Year and was selected as the region’s nominee for statewide recognition. The Colorado ISD Board of Trustees was also named the 2025 TASA Outstanding School Board of the Year, reflecting a culture of alignment, shared responsibility, and a collective commitment to student success.
Dr. Polk is not simply leading a rural school district, he is proving what is possible when leadership refuses to accept limitations.
